New Caledonia, Noumea, program "One Tree, One Day, One life", Everything started with the federation of 14 States and Territories from the Pacific
on the operation « One tree, one day, a life », an initiative of Mr. Anthony Lecren,
Member of the Government of New Caledonia in charge of Economy and
Sustainable Development, which allowed to bring a common voice for Oceania
in Rio +20. The aim is to plant, every year, as many tree as inhabitants in the
Pacific (250000 in New Caledonia but 10 million in Oceania).
This first action of stature incited leaders from the insular States and Territories of
the Pacific to go further and to federate during OCEANIA 21 Meetings, an
initiative of the Government of New Caledonia. The objective: to be heard in the
nations’ concert and to provide concrete answers to specific and shared
problems related to island sustainable development, with a politic of best
practices and information sharing. Representatives of various states, plant their trees during the Oceania 21, 2014 meetings.
